About Simmer the Pot

Simmer the Pot is a collection of recipes, reviews, things I wish I had said, things others maybe shouldn't have said, and other musings on everyday life as a thirty-something mom-person living in suburbia.

My mission here is twofold: first, to share the laughter as I explore the daily trials and tribulations of this extremely rewarding and often ridiculously funny life.  The second: to do my part to help our team (that's you, me, and the other moms out there wondering if there's life after chicken nuggets) make it through the day. This means sharing favorite recipes for those of us who may be, say, cooking with one hand and trying to tie a shoe with the other.  And recos for kids books that you will actually enjoy reading over and over and over again.  I'll share info about products, places, and people that I love and think you'll love too.  Hopefully some of this will be useful.  Or at the very least, amusing.

Who am I?  Let's see. I am a wife, a mom (of two) a stepmom (of three) and a freelance writer/marketing type. Around here I am also head baker, bather, book-reader and bed maker.  From Brooklyn to the burbs, baby. And yes, I even drive a minivan now.  You heard it here first.

Come, join me as I attempt to convince myself and others that we can handle all of the above (and then some) with grace, wit and style.
